How to Get Involved with NHRAP
 

The procedure & process for applying for a NVAHREP Board of Director is as follows:

  • Be an active chapter member
  • Be active in chapter meetings/events
  • Be actively in a committee for the past 6 months
  • Submit Resume and letter of intent
  • Attend 3 consecutive board meetings – 1st meeting interview with BOD
  • Review informal report from participating committee BOD Liaison
  • BOD - vote

Approved Committees Objectives and Assignments

FINANCE COMMITTEE: (Executive Board)
The Executive Committee shall serve as the Finance Committee. 
The Finance Committee shall prepare the annual budget for the ensuing fiscal year and submit it to the Board of Directors for its approval or modification.

Compliance Officer:

There shall be a Compliance Committee consisting of the Compliance Officer, who shall be the Chairman, one Executive Officer appointed by the President to serve one term up to two years. he Compliance Committee shall have the authority to act on behalf of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee to make compliance policies and operational decisions for the Affiliate Chapter. The Compliance Committee shall collect all information concerning to the activities of the Affiliate Chapter, including but not limited to events, attendance, and sponsorship.

EVENTS
Chairperson: Norma Green - (702) 292-3473
Plans and coordinates luncheons, banquets, major fund raising events and mixers for NVAHREP. Events will charge the following: The Educational and Events Committee shall receive a budget set by the Board of Directors. *Fundraising Sponsorships for all main events develop ways to attract, and retain sponsors for all noted and approved NVAHREP events. Help create sponsorship packages customized to each event and work closely with the Events Committee.
Its goal is to enhance current programs and develop functions that allow members to network and create business opportunities.

  • Increase numbers of effective networking events.
  • *Cinco Tee Mayo GOLF TOURNAMENT
  • Organize annual Cinco Tee Mayo Golf tournament on the Friday closest to May 5th. Select golf courses; work with volunteers, set up food, and the raffle gifts selections and awards.

*Celebrando Contigo Festival To develop this year a Hispanic real estate Trade Show/Expo, that will allow our membership to show their services and/or products to consumers. A site will have to be identified, sponsorship pkgs., the committee will organize this event which brings together companies in all real estate fields. Partners identified are: Telemundo 39 and La Preciosa Radio station.

MEMBERSHIP
Chairperson: Juan Martinez - (702) 296-9999
The Membership Committee shall actively promote membership in the Affiliate Chapter. The Committee shall also maintain communication with members, assist and/or promote the Affiliate Chapter’s projects, interests and activities. 
Develops ways to attract, recruit, and retain new businesses to NVAHREP. A continuous analysis of services, benefits, and programs offered is a focal point for this committee.

  • Increase the paid membership to (500) by the end of the year.
  • Develop a retention program in order to have a renewal rate of 80%.
  • Enhance Service /Benefits, which should improve retention rate and increase membership.
  • A telephone drive and strategy for new referrals and development of membership should be implemented.
  • Structure new innovating methods to drive membership
  • Look at our membership structure.
  • Work with all other committees to enhance membership opportunities in there planed events and projects.
  • Have no less then (5) presentations to Brokers and agents at their sales meetings etc. the NVAHREP membership opportunities.

SECTION 5.There shall be such other committees as may be designated by the Board of Directors or the Executive Committee, the members of which shall be appointed by the President unless otherwise directed by the Board of Directors or the Executive Committee.

PUBLIC RELATIONS
Chairperson: Loni Dorlack – (702) 335-4438  
The task is to communicate to all appropriate media the NVAHREP accomplishments, programs and services to our membership and community in southern Nevada through all media of interest. This committee advises and supports other committees in their public relations needs and comes up with creative ways to improve each of the committee’s communications. Assist the web master to update all web site pennant information of interest. 

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
Chairperson: Alex Garza – (702) 467-6396
The Chair will monitor governmental actions, laws, regulations, and requirements affecting Hispanic real estate issues. This committee will seek to create strong ties and work closely with the other real estate organizations to help with related legislative issues and cultivate a PAC committee once the organization has received the 501 c 6 designation. The committee monitors the progress of critical legislation which affects Hispanics within the real estate industry, and develops legislation to promote Hispanic real estate practitioners.

  • Develop legislation, which promotes Hispanic Businesses.
  • Track and lobby legislation which impacts Hispanic businesses.
  • Monitor the progress of critical legislation regarding as it relates to Education.
  • Develop meetings to meet legislators and develop relationships.
  • Set meetings for the purpose of identifying candidates for office.
  • Send letters to our local representatives with the NAHREP positions and requested assistance.
  • Assist Events with obtaining our local representatives support and their presence at our annual November minority luncheon.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Chairperson: Lizzette Morales – (702) 819-9444
Develop programs that will give back, empower, and enrich the underprivileged of our community through the efforts and/or donations of our members and friends.

  • In charge of approving and develop events to fundraise for the underprivileged.
  • Develop educational programs that will impact the Hispanic community of Southern Nevada/Scholarships, working closely with UNLV and Community College in the development of programs for Hispanic youth seeking a career in real estate.
  • To manage and development of the NALA or (selected non-profit) center of their needs for low income child care. 
  • Organize holiday drives with our members to provide food, gifts etc. to assist community established organizations that have a process to determine the underprivileged.
  • Adopt family and/or schools and coordinate with our members giving the supplies and volunteers needed for their student’s projects and events.

EDUCATION
Chairperson: Dawn Lane - (702) 497-6967
The Education Committee shall be responsible for creating and organizing (with the direction of the ED and the assistance of the Events Committee) programs and/or seminars to empower our consumers against predatory, fraud, and gauging abuse, down payment assistance, first time, and second home buying, etc. education to address our mission and also sustaining their purchases, through educational projects and events. Education shall create unique programs that will educate our consumers and/or members, with allowing our members to provide their products and services to the consumer. The Committee shall create a calendar of events for each quarter and submit it for Affiliate Chapter approval determined by a majority vote.

Reviews and amends NVAHREP bylaws as recommended by the Board and approved by the Membership.

COMMUNITY AWARDS
Chairperson: (pending) 
Develop the nomination process to select the members that will be the award recipients at our banquet in 2008, Identifies members of NVAHREP for local or national awards. Work with the candidates in putting together their qualification for these awards.

BENEFITS

Provide assistance and direction with political and legal sources to obtain Nevada approval of Affordable Group Health Insurance for individual contractors and all of NAHREP members. Provide recommended sources that are needed. Be the liaison to maintain any political relationships to obtain approval and sustain the medical needed services.

Instructions to all Committee Chairs:
By accepting the task of Chair you are agreeing to uphold the task stated in assignments. If by any unforeseen reason you can not uphold the required task please notify the Chapter President or the Executive Director, so that we can re-assign.

  • Each Chair is required to seek interested NVAHREP members to join their committee, if not able to please inform the ED.
  • Each Chair is required to have Committee Members sign a Committee Member Agreement (provided to you by the ED). You may keep a copy and turn the original to the ED.
  • Each Chair is to be under the direction of NVAHREP ED and work closely to obtain any recourse needed.
  • Each Chair is obligated to have minimum one monthly meeting and turn in minutes to the ED via email every third week of each month. This will allow time to send to the Board of Directors in their meeting packet.
  • Each Chair should create a set date for their monthly meeting and provide date to the ED to attend. The Chapter President may also attend without notice. 
  • If for any reason the committee is not fulfilling their committee task or is not representing the organization professionally the President has the direction to meet with the chair indicated and determine if their position will be replaced. 
  • Each Chair will report any concerns or suggested changes to the ED and the ED will determine if the subject needs to be reported to the President for review or approval.
