Government Affairs Committee

The committee has the direction on Governmental actions, laws, regulations, and requirements affecting Hispanic real estate issues. This will assist NVAHREP to seek and create strong ties by work closely with the other real estate organizations to help with related legislative issues and cultivate a Political Action Committee (PAC) committee as the organization receives the 501 c 6 designation. The committee monitors the progress of critical legislation which affects Hispanics within the real estate industry as well as protecting our consumers, and develops legislation to promote Hispanic real estate practitioners and consumers.
- Develop legislation, which promotes Hispanic Businesses.
- Track and lobby legislation which impacts Hispanic businesses.
- Monitor the progress of critical legislation regarding as it relates to Education.
- Develop meetings to meet legislators and develop relationships.
- Set meetings for the purpose of identifying candidates for office.
- Send letters to our local representatives with the NAHREP positions and requested assistance.
- Assist Events with obtaining our local representatives support and their presence at our annual Real Estate Minority Associations luncheon held every November.

Award of Appreciation to Secretary of Housing Urban and Development Alphonso Jackson

On behalf of the Nevada Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NVAHREP) and its board of directors, we humbly ask your assistance to present an award of appreciation to the Secretary of Housing Urban Development, (HUD) Alphonso Jackson for his support and assistance to our organization in the past four years. We would like to have you present a Proclamation to the Secretary directly as well to his local office Director Ken LoBene and Staff.
We are open to conduct this presentation at the local HUD office with local minority and general press present. We would like to take advantage of his visit to Las Vegas on February 21-23-07 if his time and schedule permits. We ask if your national office could assist us with the process of confirming the Secretary’s time we would greatly appreciate it. Please inform us if this will be possible.

NVAHREP is a national non-profit. Our mission is to increase the Hispanic homeownership rate by empowering the real estate professionals that serve Hispanic consumers. NAHREP has about 14,000 members and 47 affiliate chapters nationwide. Our organization is only going on its seventh year but our growth has been tremendous.
Homeownership is the easiest way to create wealth. Our mission is to educationally enable our member practitioners to equip our Hispanic communities to achieve all the associated benefits.
